Encyclopaedia Brittania refers to her as this being her name, prior to her marriage to Alexander. Mowens35 20:03, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I'm a native Persian speaker and Roshanak in Persian literally means "luminous beauty", not the dawn. It is exactly the same meaning as Bactarian, the two languages (at least back then) were very very close. I'm leaving "the Dawn" as loose meaning . Ddd0dd ( talk) 06:49, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
In TODAY'S Persian, it may mean "luminous beauty", but raoxsh- and the later rôz- in Old and Middle Iranian languages respectively, meant day or light (cf. Modern Persian "rûz" = day). There was a semantic shift of the word in the transition to Modern Iranian, but the translation of "dawn" or "the shining light" or anything like that is perfectly okay in an Old Iranian context.
The final paragraph on Roxana on Buddhism has very little to do with Roxana herself or her culture, except for the note on Zoroastrianism. Should it be removed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by RNajdek ( talk • contribs) 20:08, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
Why is there a reference to present day Republic of Macedonia (I mean: {{Macedonia-bio-stub}})? Ancient Macedonia has (almost) nothing to do with the Republic of Macedonia. 131.152.208.69 ( talk) 23:00, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
There was a historical novel section that I think was deleted when the citation section was moved. I have added back the section and expanded it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pavasta ( talk • contribs) 02:39, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
