I changed a line that stated "travelers (especially those from the United States)..." It seemed a little like an insult towards americans, and judging from the photo included with this article(with the sign also in Japanese) there clearly are other nationalities that feel that way. rigbyl7 @ work

Would it be appropriate for this entry to support a Category? It would be nice to "travel" down the Romantic Road through the various articles associated with it.

Lede too cynical?
If it was a medieval trade route, then it has historical significance, and to start the article by saying it's an invention of 20th-century travel agents seems a tad too cynical.
