Two concerns with the current title, Rodulf (petty king) :

• It is not an obvious search term. I know this article exists, but I have trouble remembering how to find it. So how will other readers go?
• It is not easy to write an article about what is potentially two subjects. It is easier to write about a main subject, with a secondary subject.

Because the Ranii story is clearly the least certain, concerning how to interpret it, and comes down to one difficult passage in one unreliable old document, I suggest it is the secondary subject of this article.
