Hi there! I'll be happy to review this DYK nomination. I've done a few copyedits and will post here again once I've completed my review.

Ok, I've conducted my review. Article is new, long enough, and meets our core content policies. QPQ is satisfied, and image is fine.
ALT0: The source is behind a paywall, so I can't verify. However, I'd suggest some rewording to provide more context for our global audience.
ALT1: I was able to view the source and verify the hook. (I can read Portuguese with limited proficiency.) However, the hook is too long (213 characters) so I propose an alternative.
@
Edge3: Thank you so much for your informative and helpful feedback! Both of the new hooks look fine to me, perhaps ALT1a since its citation is not behind a paywall. I'll try to see if there is any free source for the former hook.

Inter&anthro: Great! I also just realized something. Maroni was serving as a councillor of Porto Alegre at the time, so the bills applied only to the city, correct? We should probably reword it again. Would you say that "city councillor" is the appropriate translation of "vereador"?
Yeah that slipped my attention too. Yeah on google translate "vereador" comes up as "city councilor". On en.wikipedia "verador" redirects to "
Alderman", which means something similar. I personally think city councilor is fine.

ALT0b approved in good faith due to paywalled source. ALT1b approved, and I was able to verify the Portuguese-language source.

Hi, I came by to promote this but the article is an orphan. Please link it in at least one other Wikipedia article. Also, the birth date needs a cite. Thanks,

Thank you,
SL93, but I don't see the page you linked to; maybe it needs to be archived. I added a full sentence with his birthdate and birthplace to the article, with a cn tag.

Yoninah Instead of fixing the link, I added a new reference which states his birth date and birth city. The source has Porto Alegre for his birth city and doesn't state Brazil anywhere, but I'm thinking that shouldn't matter.

Porto Alegre is only in Brazil, it's fine. Restoring tick per Edge3's review.
