Actually, on 10/21/69, Yonge said he had already been fired, and that was the reason he aired these rumors, since he wasn't worried about losing his job, and, as he said, "it's 12:30 AM, and there's no one around to pull the plug." Les Marshak was eventually called in to relieve Yonge after he started the furor, but there is no evidence that he was fired on the spot. Perhaps someone can elaborate on this.
