To Crazyoldcat: First off, the primary rule of Wikipedia is civility and a presumption of good faith. You have violated both. Secondly, as an ex-Marine and a combat veteran of the Vietnam war, I feel quite bad being taunted by a brother warrior as you have done. Thirdly, my reversion of your edits was not done maliciously or out of any disrespect to you or to Mr. Todd, whom I count as a friend. Instead, I was endeavoring to make the article fit Wikipedia guidelines. Your submission, however heartfelt, respectful and genuine, was not in proper format for Wikipedia, and it contained material that far exceeded the scope of this article. Wikipedia articles are intended to give a broad overview of a subject, not to catalog every interest and activity the subject engaged in. The material you submitted might well be fitting for an article more directly focused on the subject of the instrument, the music, or the musicians. I suggest, respectfully, that you look at a variety of Wikipedia articles and get a clearer understanding of what "encyclopedic" means in this context and make your submissions accordingly. In the meantime, the material you have submitted, in its present form, is not suitable for this article. I'm sorry that you have been offended by my defense of Wikipedia standards, and especially that you have been so offended that you must resort to unpleasantness in responding. With his passing, his page will get undue to attention. I see that in a matter of minutes there have been 15 edits on 4 December 2009. Are all those tinkerings needed?
If anything is going to be added, can with have consensus on it first. It would be a shame that this article will just become cluttered assembly of factual titbits, and minor irrelevancies. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.130.139.4 ( talk) 12:36, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
What about his support for the Conservative Party? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.15.43.201 ( talk) 12:52, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Like Donald Sinden, Todd was a vocal supporter. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.15.43.201 ( talk) 15:30, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Is that really necessary? He served in the British Army for a handful of years (almost going to Sandhurst), but he was best known as an actor for more than 70 years!! Seems completely incongruous and strained to call him a military man, when he is most notable as a stage and film actor...IMO this needs changing. 86.169.91.1 ( talk) 19:53, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
I have added a source for the mention of Todd in the role of his former WW2 fellow soldier in the movie. I checked through the full cast list but found no mention of any character with the name Todd, nor any role that reflected his actual wartime experience in particular detail. So I've deleted that part. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:30A:2C4A:1CB0:F869:31F0:BB19:7F71 ( talk) 04:13, 5 July 2016 (UTC)
