I started this article after seeing the name on the
List of people known as father or mother of something, and recognised the name from a portrait in the entrance hall of the school for deaf children attached to the teaching hospital where I do clinical sessions, in Cape Town, South Africa. The school is a symbol of the life work of a pioneeer in the management of deaf children in my country, and the association clearly indicates to me that Carhart was a person that WP should have something about. Unfortunately I could access only the one citation tonight, and am unable to assess the importance of Carhart's work from my limited expertise, but hopefully some "audiologically less educated challenged" wikipedians can fill in more. --

Carhart was born in Mexico. Thus he was in Mexico. He was either an American expatriate there, or he was a Mexican emigrant to the US. It looks like the former is more likely. John Pack Lambert ( talk) 12:58, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
