There is a widespread belief that the community is Shiia. They were apparently expelled to Sudan from Hijaz by an earlier Saudi state. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.161.133.84 ( talk) 19:06, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
"There is a widespread belief that the community is Shiia" What source or refference for that claim? Can youthankfully provide me one?

Discussion with Cookiemonster1618 regarding Rashaida's diaelect, whether it's a subdialect of Najdi Arabic or Hejazi Arabic.
I've cited Ingham's Najdi Arabic [1], which includes the Rashaida when discussing NA-speaking bedouin tribes. There's no reputable source I could find that points to them speaking Hejazi Arabic.
The citations that Cookiemonster1618 are circular. The first [2] is a copy of English wikipedia, and the second [3] is a link to a book on Amazon.
All in all, it seems to me that there's confusion over what "Najdi Arabic" is. The Hejaz traditionally has two dialect groups: urban and bedouin. Ingham includes in his definition of NA dialects that other linguists describe as "Bedouin Hejazi", such as the dialects of Harb and Otaibah. The term "Hejazi Arabic" usually refers to the urban dialects, such as in Jeddah, Mecca, and Medina. The Bedouin dialects in Hejaz, like most bedouin dialects across Saudi Arabia, are much closer to the dialects of Najd than to the dialects of Mecca or Jeddah.
