I'm going to move the section on VPg to the Picornavirus article because it is too specific for this article. Xenobiologista ( talk) 18:46, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
How can understanding the mechanism of RNA-dependent RNA polymerase lead to it's use in scientific technologies, such as RNAi, or drug therapies against viral pathogens? Katie.toperzer ( talk) 19:56, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
Would anyone mind if I renamed this article to RNA-dependent RNA polymerase and merged RNA replicase into it? Narayanese ( talk) 13:02, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
In the 2nd paragraph, it is written that "RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) is an essential protein encoded in the genomes of all RNA-containing viruses with no DNA stage that have sense negative RNA", however, I can't understand what "that have sense negative RNA" means. Does it mean that RdRp is essential for all negative-stranded RNA virus? If so, I think we should remove this sentence because RdRp is essential for not only (-) RNA virus but also (+) and dsRNA virus, according to references. Thank you. And what about plant RNA-dependent RNA polymerases? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.113.47.253 ( talk) 09:37, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

I am interesting in the polymerase, i want to collect more details about the polymerase , such as : what is the best template for RdRp synthesize RNA in vitro? if i use Poly(rc) as template , how long of the poly(rc)? |

a/an is based on the pronunciation of the next first letter
R = /ɑː/
Some RNA viruses, such as corona viruses, do proofreading on their RNA polymerase. I don't know if it is part of the polymerase itself, or a separate protein. (Or separate subunit.) As the article indicates, the error rate of the usual RdRp is about 1 in 10,000, which is fine for smaller viruses, but too high for larger ones, like corona viruses. There is, then, now much interest in the workings of corona viruses such as Covid-19. This article could either mention it, or link to an article which does. Gah4 ( talk) 23:40, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
How is “RdRp” pronounced?
One part of the article uses “a RdRp” which implies that it is pronounced with a starting consonant sound (“a redrip”, perhaps?) and not “ar dee ar pee” or “ar en ay-dependent…”. pne (talk) 05:46, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
