Per MOS:INITIALS, there should be spacing in the name "R. R. Virdi". Multiple IPs ( 96.241.84.215 and 70.163.152.103) and an apparent SPA ( Daddotmom) have reverted this to have no spacing ("R.R. Virdi"). Of the references in the article, only two could be considered reliable (the Locus and Dragon Awards references). The SPA also mentioned the lack of spacing was " much like J.R.R. Tolkien". If it's much like J. R. R. Tolkien, then we should have the name have spaces, just like we do in the Tolkien article. The spacing is incorrect. Remove spaces. Daddotmom ( talk) 15:52, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
The website was created by another artist. The author has made it clear what his wishes are for his professional name. I don't think it gets more clear than that. I did talk to the author and he told me it's was a creative thing and not his preference. R.R. Virdi himself has attempted to edit the page to show the correct way his professional name is shown and it was changed back. I wonder who did that???
The author has also started formal steps to rectify the issue. I suggest so-called expert editors follow the professional author's wishes and not their own personal agenda. The editor who continues to argue this point is the one creating unnecessary drama. Daddotmom ( talk) 20:21, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
Additional, your argument of consistency has no merit. The author has made a statement. That statement trumps your assumptions of how it should be based on your real OR imagined perceptions. BTW JRR Tolkien has no spaces as well but you choose to use the Wiki page as your reference. Good work. Hubris I say. Daddotmom ( talk) 20:25, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
R.r. Virdi says on his own page that "His name is stylized and specifically written as R.R. Virdi (without spaces between the two Rs for extremely personal and private reasons)." If this is not enough proof for you to stop disrespecting the author, his friends, and his fans, then you have another agenda that more about arguing a point than being right. YOU are the problem here.
R.R. Virdi has gone out of his way to get this fixed. Yet a person with some much self importance as to be blind to what is right continues to dishonor the author and disrespect his wishes. Daddotmom ( talk) 20:59, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
For reliable sources as proof, try any book cover. Most of us can read a book cover and would consider the stylized name on a book as proof of the author's "extremely personal and private reasons" for having his name a certain way. Geez it's common sense. Daddotmom ( talk) 21:14, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
Is it resolved or will you continue to argue your very wrong point regarding this particular author? Daddotmom ( talk) 21:15, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
BTW J.R.R. Tolkien's book covers have no spaces. I guess the publisher and the author were wrong here too. Daddotmom ( talk) 21:21, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
The current reference for the "Virdi began writing at the age of 18, first publishing at the age of 23.
" sentence doesn't say anything about either of those claims. I can't find any reference that says anything about how old he was when he first started writing, or how old he was when he first published. Do you have a reference for that,
Escape Orbit? If so, please add it. Thanks! ···
