I've added that start times are *often* only approximate rather than (always) approximate. In quizzes that I've run, if the teams get to thinking that 9 p.m. means the questions will start at around 9.15 p.m, then some teams will tend to arrive close to 9.15 p.m. with the result that the questions can't get started until around 9.30 p.m. Thus the quiz start time gets progressively later and later, week after week. My tip is to start at the advertized time; if teams arrive late, you can *quickly* run through Round 1 questions for them between Round 1 and Round 2. This usually encourages them not to be late again! Peter Harriman 06:20, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
I'd like to add some text on the pub quiz league formats which can vary. Our league's format is very different.
This is all when I get round to it! Peter Hitchmough 07:32, 12 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Does anyone have any opinions on the link farm that's steadily growing at the bottom of this article? Varitek 08:20, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
Not sure why some of the links were taken off or why it was assumed they were all commercial sites. They weren't. One was a listing of quizzes in the UK which is not run for profit and has no advertising or commercial content. Not sure either why two in particular were left untouched... -- Frank, 6 August 2006.
Here are the links that were originally present :
I removed what I thought were commercial. Of course, if you disagree with me, put them back, and we can have a discussion to reach consensus. However, please remember,
Wikipedia is not a place for free advertising. --

I removed the apparent add for brainstormer.com again. I'm not going to 3RR, or even come close, but it probably should be discussed why some people think the commercial site belongs here.. -- ArglebargleIV 02:50, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
I restored the link to another non-profit site. - Frank, 7 August.
quiz-express.comUK has crept back into the links, I see. I think the decision to include only non-commercial sites is fine but it seems to be a constant battle. Frank, 23 August.
I don’t know if it’ll be allowed, or if interest, but I run a couple of quizzes in Essex, and have a blog describing both them, along with a few basics about how I’ve been running them, for the past few years. I added this section to describe a form of Pub Quiz which is popular in the UK. Chrisj1948 14:02, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
I am a little unhappy about the external link to Pub Quiz USA added by user 24.21.18.50. This appears to be the website of a commercial quiz organiser. The same user also modified the Bingo Quiz section to add details of the format used by Pub Quiz USA. Anyone else have an opinion about this? Chrisj1948 ( talk) 10:13, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Since there has been no comment, and the Pub Quiz USA site does appear to be commercial. I have removed references to it. Chrisj1948 ( talk) 11:20, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
On 12th January 2012 user McGeddon removed the section on Bingo Quizzes (amongst other edits). I would be curious to know his justification for this. It does not appear to be vandalism. Chrisj1948 ( talk) 11:01, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Should there be a mention of Barry, the trivia machines in pubs that you can win money on? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.0.223.243 ( talk) 04:45, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
This article is poorly written and has a bias to the UK (it was amazingly a featured article). I have added an Australian section, removed some uncited and potential contentious claims and have provided some citations. Much of what is written is not very encyclopaedic. Ozdaren ( talk) 08:47, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
I've removed this recently added section because a can't find a decent citation for it, and it was also somewhat unencyclopedic and POV/promotional.
If someone has a citation (note that the Facebook page is not good enough) the entry could be added as follows:

Hi DerbyCountyinNZ There is a citation here on the Woodlands Hotel Website. http://woodlandsblackburn.co.uk/thebar#pubquiz Thanks for suggesting more appropriate wording - I have never written for a encyclopedia before but now understand more about how things should be written. Let me know if this citation is acceptable. Many Thanks MatLambert ( Talk 00:54, 4 January 2011 (GMT)
