The definition of "Proportion" as the equality between two ratios is currently duplicated in the articles about Ratio and Proportionality (mathematics); I'd argue it's a sufficiently notable concept to deserve its own article, the present one. fgnievinski ( talk) 18:39, 17 March 2023 (UTC) reply

This should be merged into ratio, and it should be explained much better by someone who has read enough work by credible math history scholars to not make a hash of it. We could also make a separate article about Eudoxus's theory of proportion as exemplified by Book 5 of Euclid's Elements if at some point the coverage grows beyond the scope of ratio. – jacobolus  (t) 20:04, 17 March 2023 (UTC) reply
