The common English-language name for the medieval state centred around modern-day Kyiv is Kievan Rus' Although the modern-day capital of Ukraine is commonly spelled Kyiv in current English, per the Wikipedia policy WP:COMMONNAME and the community consensus outlined on this talk page in April 2021, we use the spelling for the medieval state that is the more common name in English-language historiography, which is Kievan Rus', not Kyivan Rus'. This is not a comment on the identity or association of the medieval state to any modern country, language or culture; it is merely the spelling by which it is more commonly known in English-language literature. Please do not request that Kievan Rus' be changed to Kyivan Rus': any such request will be denied. |
Don't know why this was redirecting to the Kievan Rus', they are different entities and other language wikipedias have entries for this principality and I consider it pretty important in the history of this region. Anywho, I've 'created' the page but I am no editor so true editors can continue the work. =) (polskaGOLA) ( talk) 13:31, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

T0mk0us,
not that was voted that everz instance of Kiev in the English WP should be substituted, but the Kiev article's title. The possbility/validity of other moves are being discussed, not settled yet, and by historical entities are not even sure, because they did not bear present-day names. Hence until these issues are not settled, you should stop mass changing articles, no consensus for this.( KIENGIR ( talk) 20:03, 21 September 2020 (UTC))
MUST be referring to the city of Kyivand
that MUST TO BE DONE-- this was not the outcome of the Kyiv RM and there's no such ruling. In addition, it's pointless to create piped links, i.e. [[Kievan Rus'|Kyievan Rus']], when the underlying article is " Kievan Rus". -- K.e.coffman ( talk) 00:22, 23 September 2020 (UTC)
The links will be only "Kievan Rus".
Would it be possible to edit the princes of Kiev graphic to be in Latin script? 80.122.145.38 ( talk) 08:06, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
