Middle Pre-Classic, Olmec Mistake

In the section entitled 'Middle Pre-Classic' the claim is made that '...the Olmec are generally recognized as the first true civilization in the Americas.' This statement is inaccurate on several levels, including the vagueness of 'true.' Most importantly, the Olmec are predated by many hundreds of years by several major civilizations in South America. See /info/en/?search=Valdivia_culture. The claim in the wiki entry on the Olmecs is both more modest and more accurate: 'The Olmecs were the earliest known major civilization in Mexico...' Weird Photo on the side

When I hover over the [Preceded by "Preclassic Maya"] on the sidebar, a photo of a plate with food (or vomit?) appears in the preview. Sorry I'm not sure about the proper way to notify this. 123.51.153.17 ( talk) 09:02, 27 April 2023 (UTC) reply
