I read the Semana interview [1] and another source that refers to the interview [2] (English).
After doing so I had to remove the following statement
because that truly appears nowhere in either source and also feels like the opposite of what the sources actually say. That (at least in 2013) the PLA charges a tax on coca leaves but is not involved in processing. The leader explains that that is how they fund their expenses and the revolution. In the interview there is no "denial of involvement" and I can't find anywhere where the struggle is described 'as a political one', either.
