A fact from Pope Anastasius of Alexandria appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 11 August 2007. The text of the entry was as follows: Did you know... that Anastasius of Alexandria, despite being forbidden to enter the city of Alexandria, helped arrange for the unification of the Coptic Church and the Church of Antioch? Since this article is as long as it is, there should be a little more context on the struggle between the official state church of the Byzantine Empire and the local Coptic church (whose doctrines and separate existence were not recognized by the central imperial authorities).
