I would like to suggest that this article is renamed Poole Borough Council and reworded slighly to be about the council, in the style of Manchester City Council. As it stands, there is no geographical distinction between Poole and this article. MRSC ( talk) 15:17, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
This has been completed. MRSC ( talk) 13:30, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
"Borough of Poole" is the official and common name of the local authority so I don't fully understand your reasons for the page move. Plus there were a lot of incoming links from other articles which were supposed to link to an article about the council so I don't think it's correct to redirect Borough of Poole to Poole. The common name for the council isn't Borough of Poole. Many councils use the name of the locality to brand their services. Just like Greenwich London Borough Council uses the name "Royal Greenwich". But neither are the name of the council, common or uncommon. Don't you see the contradiction of having two articles Poole and Borough of Poole both claiming to be about the same thing i.e. the borough? Only relevant guideline is probably WP:UKDISTRICTS MRSC ( talk) 15:18, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
I propose changing this article's (and Bournemouth Borough Council) scope back to the district since its been abolished. @ MRSC:. While the change may have made sense when the borough existed now that its been abolished I think we can have an article on the district without duplication problems like we have articles on county boroughs such as County Borough of Bury even though they were similar to the settlement.
