Shouldn't this be moved to Irish pirate radio? -- Itai 00:59, 16 Oct 2004 (UTC)

The xfm in dublin is NOT the same as in London and what about Radioactive eh?
Yes but they were around before Xfm in London started. As for "what about Radioactive eh?" What about any of the hundreds of other pirate stations ?. Radioactve may have been original and different but had little influence on the development of Irish radio from a historical standpoint !
I was going to turn XFM into a link, since there is an article for it, but I found that XFM was already surrounded by double-brackets. Is there a bug in the Wiki? Q
Were fm104 and 98fm originally pirate stations?-- Richy 23:31, 5 May 2005 (UTC)
There still seems to be regular pirate stations here, even after 2002. RLO (Radio Limerick One) is still broadcasting at around 105MHz, and I've never seen that go away - I didn't even know it was pirate until looking it up here today! -- Zilog Jones 21:17, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
RLO were originally a licenced station but after they lost their licence they coninued broadcasting anyway
What was the reason for reverting the bot link today? ja: :アイルランドの海賊放送 simply goes to the Japanese version of this page. JXM 05:51, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
I've done a bit of a restructuring today, any comments - just go ahead and change it... -- Kiand 17:02, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
The article has multiple tags dating back to 2009 but little/no discussion regarding them here. The article has had numerous edits since then. So is it time to remove the tags and if not which should be kept and why ? Netgeek-UK ( talk) 10:34, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
The article comes across like it was cribbed from various press releases (particularly in the Galway and Waterford sections) with a lot of trivia and lists of DJ names -of questionable notability. I've done some work on it but it could do with a lot more. 86.146.222.51 ( talk) 19:34, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
This entry contradicts itself stating that the station continued under various guises as such until the present day but was taken off air in 2010 and has not returned It also claims the station launched in November 1998 but its been around since at least the mid 1990's. 86.146.222.51 ( talk) 20:10, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
The Cork "since 2000" section mentions a "Kiss FM" but doesn't make it clear if its the same station as broadcast during the late 1990's. The references to the station going on and off and on again (on various frequencies) reads like an "Anorak" news magazine and is of questionable relevance to a Wikipedia article. 86.146.222.51 ( talk) 20:10, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
In the opening paragraphs its suggested that the level of enforcement in Ireland is particularly draconian with dubious statements like A recent government crackdown now means Ireland has one of the most hardline anti-pirate policies in Europe, and few major stations survive Anyone who has been involved in pirate radio in someplace like London (where many stations experience raids on a weekly basis) would find this suggestion laughable. There is one station in County Monaghan which was operated continuously since 1987 and has only experienced one raid. Many other stations have operated without any harassment from COMREG at all. While the "black Tuesday" raids were an enormous shock to the free radio community these took place over a decade ago and their significance should not be exaggerated. 86.146.222.51 ( talk) 19:47, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
Shouldn't the article give a brief mention to pirate television -Both stations in their own right and relays of UK television signal via UHF "deflectors" and unlicenced cable systems ? 86.146.222.51 ( talk) 19:47, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
I've removed a large amount of this article. The problems with it have been long indicated by tags;
As such, it read very much like a personal essay by one editor reflecting on their experience and knowledge of the subject. All great stuff, but Wikipedia is not the place to publish it, and all completely unverifiable.
No doubt I've removed some stuff in the process that could have been retained and sourced, but since nothing has been done to fix this article in years and years, it was time for action. Feel free to restore anything that can be properly sourced. Escape Orbit (Talk) 19:23, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
