Dade County Pine was used extensively in construction in Florida. Where it remains it is prized for it's strength, durability and termite resistance. The article should include this information. MrBill3 ( talk) 20:00, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
This seems to be disputed. Some claim that it comes from the original settlers habit of "slash"ing the tree trunk in order to obtain the sap which was used for turpentine and rosin.
