This page is intended to be used for discussion of the article "Pieces of Eight (Piracy)."
"Pieces of eight were known to mark pirates of fame in actual history. Though they were not braided into the hair but worn around the neck on a fiber-like string."
Can someone explain to me the relevance of this quote to the paragraph and its source? It's interesting (if it's true), but it's apparently proving a point that pieces of eight were not braided into pirates' hair, but instead worn around their necks. Citations are good. I would suggest that any fact or quote be given a source to prove its authenticity.
