Legendary Status

Would Fione classified as a legendary Pokemon? 68.163.217.151 00:31, 5 October 2006 (UTC) reply

yes Darkness Lord | T | C 19:30, 5 October 2006 (UTC) reply
How is that so? Fione is an offspring of Manaphy and it can be bred to have more Fiones. As far as I'm concerned, Legendaries are one of a kind. ( 24.87.56.91 23:26, 9 October 2006 (UTC)) reply

In the games, yes, but not in the anime. I classify them as a pokemon that you cannot get two of in the same game using only that game without any cheats. Usually has a sprite in the overworld. Xenero 03:19, 30 October 2006 (UTC) reply

Phione vs Fione

Whichi one should it be? Because Manaphy's page and Serebii.net has it as Fione (others may too) but this article has it as Phione. Xenero 03:20, 30 October 2006 (UTC) reply
It should be Phione, as that's the official Romanization. Serebii.net tends to stick with the original names, such as how it stuck with Perappu for so long and still used Manafi right up to the release of Diamond and Pearl. Double Dash ( Talk to me) 20:51, 30 October 2006 (UTC) reply

Also, note that it's name comes from the animal Clione

It is Phione!!!!!!! I (Arceus493) am a PokéManiac, and I know all (but moves) Arceus493 ( talk) 15:16, 8 July 2009 (UTC) reply

Ocean or Ocean Walker?

While looking through the edit history, I noticed that the species name has been changed at least twice, from 'Ocean Walker' to 'Ocean' and back. Serebii.net says 'Ocean', but Psypoke says 'Ocean Walker'. Both are fansites, so neither should really be trusted over the other, right? So what should we do about that? I suppose we could wait for the games to come out in English and for someone to obtain Phione and see what it says in the Pokedex, but what should we do until then?

Is Phione a legendary Pokémon or not?

I was looking at Legendary Pokémon and saw that Manaphy is on this list of Legendary Pokémon, but Phione isn't. As these two Pokémon are technically in the same "family", despite Phione not being able to evolve into Manaphy, shouldn't they be classified either as both Legendary Pokémon or both Non-Legendary Pokémon? This is the logical solution. Is the reason possibly because Manaphy can only be received through an event in Pokémon Ranger, whereas Phione can be bred from Manaphy and because you can get unlimited Phione in the Pokémon games? Again, I think I answered my own question, but despite being able to acquire an unlimited amount of Phione, I still believe it should be considered a Legendary Pokémon, as it is in the same family as Manaphy, another Legendary Pokémon. What are your thoughts on this, everybody? -- Ksy92003 04:26, 9 May 2007 (UTC) reply

Diamond and Pearl made things a lot harder to distinguish. I would personally consider Phione a legendary for your reasons as well, but Rotom has been receiving some similar controversy. (Apparently, the fact it uses the Legendary Pokémon battle theme carries a certain weight).— Loveはドコ? ( talkcontribs) 05:00, 9 May 2007 (UTC) reply
Unfortunately, we can't use the music to determine Phione's status, as Phione can't be found in the wild, therefore it won't have battle music. -- Ksy92003 05:22, 9 May 2007 (UTC) reply
I think Phione should be considered "sub-legendary" along with Unown. Both have close relations to legendaries, but they're not one-of-a-kind in any of the main games. Rotom is a bit more confusing. Considering it a legendary would make the Sinnoh legendaries to be the only legendaries that don't start with that gen's trio (in the Dex). Not considering it a legendary would make it the only non-legendary/old gen (pre-)evolution that does not appear in any regional dex. Perhaps a "sub-legendary," too? -- Jopasopa 16:32, 10 May 2007 (UTC) reply

Arguments pro legendary:

  • Cannot be obtained except by getting and breeding a Manaphy through a tedious, out of game process.
  • Near the end of the Pokedex, and does not appear in the Sinnoh Dex. Not required for a full Pokedex.

Arguments anti legendary:

  • Is in no way, shape, or form one-of-a-kind because you can breed Manaphy over and over again.
  • Can breed itself; therefore, if Phione is a legendary, Manaphy is not "the only legendary that can breed" as is commonly touted.
  • Base stat total of 480, a full 100 points below any other current legendary.

I feel the first anti-argument outweighs the pro-arguments, and Phione is not a legendary under current definitions. As for being a "family," aside from the fact that breeding Manaphy is the only way to get Phione in the first place, I could easily see Phione as its own self-contained "family" (seeing as how it can breed itself) with the Manaphy/Ditto crossbreed being an "alternative method."

As for Rotom, I feel it's nothing more than a glorified genderless Sudowoodo or Snorlax. SubStandardDeviation 19:17, 22 June 2007 (UTC) reply

what is phione's type?

It's a water type, according to the infobox. SubStandardDeviation 18:52, 22 June 2007 (UTC) reply

no i mean the spieces of phione.

The external links say it's "Sea Drifter", but there's no official Nintendo classification. SubStandardDeviation 00:27, 27 June 2007 (UTC) reply

Melvin Sneedly Redirect?

Okay, I'm confused.

It's been redirect to Melvin Sneedly many times, but I see no reason why, and it's been reverted every time. Someone trying to be funny, or is there a serious reason, and maybe this page should be a disambig? Didn't wanna start messing it up if there's a real reason.
