History

In the usual primary sources on the Philly Waterfront, I see no evidence that Pier 34 was ever used to load coal. The Reading RR, which owned it in the '30s loaded their coal up in Port Richmond. Instead, it appears to have been used, like most of the piers around it, to load and unload cargo from steamships. I'll change the page accordingly.
