I saw Pete in an old TV play where he played the boss of a small plant hire company. He was being threatened by a crime boss played by Terence Rigby. Does anyone know the name of the play? Gillean666 16:57, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
This actor's picture is unrecognisable. Could someone try and find a replacement?
His filmography shows Last of the Mohicans...What character did Postlethwaite play in that film? Engr105th ( talk) 16:52, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
An IP raised a concern that the fact that "Postlethwaite was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1990, and had one testicle removed" should not be included in the article. Just refactoring their complaint to the proper forum. ~ SunDragon34 (talk) 00:08, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
I'm giving up trying to correct the page - lazy journalists will just have to carry on quoting the wrong birth date in their articles and Wildhartlivie can carry on deleting correct information when presented to him/her (and no I don't think Pete is going to send you a copy of his birth certificate...).
For those that are interested, Pete was born on 7 February 1946. The Yahoo reference is wrong but Wildhartlivie informs me it is from a reliable source - presumably this means that it cannot be incorrect.

There's very little on his son (or daughter), save the line "William John (born 1989), a drama student at LAMDA"
I believe his son is also an actor (from memory) and was in a Film4 production where he played the lead role as that of a runaway kid on the streets of London. Maybe it was a different Postlethwaite, or maybe it was Pete in this film, if so it doesn't seem to be listed in his Filmography. Maybe I've just my wires mixed up.
Does anyone have any more information about William John's career or current status? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yabbox ( talk • contribs) 20:11, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
He was born in Warrington in 1946, at which time it was in Lancashire; therefore this article should give Lancs as his county of birth. Since 1 April 1974 it has been in Cheshire. Jim Michael ( talk) 12:24, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
Jesus was born in a stable - if the stable was now a car park could we say that he was born in car park? LOL. Warrington, Lancashire(1946) Brakn ( talk) 18:55, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

The implication of this line is that the Government's change of policy was a result of Postlethwaite's intervention. Is there any evidence for this? If this is not the intended implication, why is this u-turn mentioned in the article rather than any of the many other u-turns of recent years? There appears to be a suggestion that the coal u-turn was connected in some way to Postlethwaite, otherwise why is it in the article at all? Hobson ( talk) 15:24, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
It is perhaps mentioned in order to assure readers that he did not "turn in" his OBE after all. Though it may imply he played a greater role than he actually did, it's simply meant to round out the story. If it could be edited to something along the lines of "A month later the Government announced a change to its policy on coal, though there is no evidence of his individual activism playing a direct role in this outcome," that would be satisfactory.
Pete Postlethwaite also entered seminary in london in the 1950's but left before becoming a priest. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.192.248.215 ( talk) 22:21, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
When the Watershed Media Centre in Bristol constructed its third cinema in 2004, it allowed its patrons to sponsor a chair. Pete Postlethwaite was the first person to do this, and there is now a chair in the cinema with a small plaque with his name on. The sources for this are included in the Watershed Media Centre article and I suggest that it's worth adding the fact into this article, but I'll leave that judgment to other editors. MartinPoulter ( talk) 14:37, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
I don't feel like Pete's role in Aeon Flux is worthy of being considered one of his best known works given that Aeon Flux is one of the worst films of the decade. I'm removing it from the list in the opening paragraph. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.6.253.41 ( talk) 12:43, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
Pete began his relationship with Jacqueline Morrish in 1987, but they were not legally married until 2003. Their daughter, Lily, was born in 1996, not 1992, as the current article states.
Page 132 of his autobiography, A Spectacle of Dust [1], mentions Lily's birth year. On this and the following page, Pete mentions being together with Jacqui for "many, many years" before he proposed. On this page and on the following page he mentions a commitment ceremony they had in Greece, where he mentions that his family wishes that they would have gotten married instead and worn a wedding ring. Page 133 also mentions his son Will asking him why he and Jacqui had not yet gotten married.
Among others, these sites mention the date of their eventual marriage as 2003:

The episodes of Sharpe that Mr. Postlethwaite appeared in are listed under the heading "Film", when maybe they should go under "Television." The entries on Sean Bean's page /info/en/?search=Sean_Bean for his role in the same episodes are listed under his "Television" heading instead of "Film". I'm not sure which is correct, but I feel they should match. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.68.75.215 ( talk) 02:46, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

Pete had a starring role in the movie the Usual Suspects. One of his greatest performances. Would somebody please add it? I tried but could not see a way to do it working through the codes. I don't know how to do that. I'm not an experience to Wikipedian editor. Blaquercia ( talk) 07:40, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
I see it is mentioned further down. I suggest it be added at the top section of the page, as I think it is one of his most well recognized roles. Blaquercia ( talk) 07:44, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
Despite the Irish Independents statement that Pete Postlethwaite had no Irish ancestry, I believe his mother was of Irish descent. The surname Lawless is found over much of Ireland. Pete's maternal grandmother was surnamed Lally another Irish name common in Galway and Mayo. The fact that they were Catholic would indicate some Irish connection as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.146.57.244 ( talk) 16:59, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
