Reqphoto

Both references sources contain an image of a portrait that is in the collection of the Royal Albert Memorial Museum. The original portrait is unsigned, and obviously was painting in the 19th century, so can be assumed to be in the public domain. However the images in the sources cannot be treated as public domain because, unlike in the US, in the UK it is unclear (i.e. untested) the extent to which photographers can claim copyright over photos of public domain two-dimensional artworks. What is needed here is for a Wikipedia to visit the RAMM and photograph the portrait themselves. Hesperian 01:35, 9 May 2008 (UTC) reply
