Proposed move to Tagging Of Pacific Predators (TOPP)

In light of the issues with the notability of a single animal without significant independent third party coverage by reliable sources, I propose that this article be moved/merged into a wider scope article on Tagging Of Pacific Predators. This is a wider and more complete start point for readers to provide an overview of the program and is more notable in its own right. Notable individual animals could have their own section. At present this article is at risk of deletion, and doesn't really stand on its own when an article on TOPP itself does not exist. thoughts? Mfield ( talk) 18:04, 18 February 2009 (UTC) reply

  • It might be better to write an article on Tagging of Pacific Predators first, and then merge this into that new article if it makes sense, rather than renaming this while it is still primarily about one particular animal. In any case, the title should not contain the parenthetical acronym. (Note also, there is already a short article Census of Marine Life, of which TOPP is one project.) • The title was not anything I had in mind as remotely certain. My real concern was that the article has notability issues as it stands and would probably not survive an AfD. I wanted to get this addressed one way or the other and this discussion is the best way to come to consensus on the best way to proceed. I think creating an article on TOPP and then proposing this be merged in is equally valid proposition, it's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other in the end as long as the content does not get lost and is better put in context for the reader. I am confident that TOPP is notable enough to stand on its own. Mfield ( talk) 03:34, 21 February 2009 (UTC) reply

Closing this move proposal as Tagging Of Pacific Predators now exists. This article should be merged into that article if more primary referencing for the notability of this individual seal is not forthcoming. Mfield ( talk) 06:04, 23 February 2009 (UTC) reply
