I am tempted to just remove the section. First off it reeks of POV, as if it was written by some disaffected former/current resident. Secondly, it make a lot of claims about crime, income level, drug usage, etc, and provides no sources to back them up, let alone any stats that have any kind of verifiability. I figure I give it a week and see if someone can salvage it or source it, otherwise I am just going to remove it on natural and POV reasons. -- Boothy443 | trácht ar 05:05, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
We've had several friends who have been robbed in the area, and I won't even drive through anymore. I don't like the idea that whoever wrote this was "disaffected" or resented the town; the only thing they would be "disaffected" about would be completely unresponsive state and local governments that simply refuse to even acknowledge the problems that are choking this area TO DEATH. It is a tragedy what is happening to those children out there. This must be included in that article because people HAVE GOT TO KNOW. It's not right that we all want to pretend it isn't happening. If it were Carroll County, someone would do something. If it were Frederick County, someone would do something. If it were Bethesda, someone would do something. But it's Glen Burnie, it's Pasadena, it's Anne Arundle County, so no one cares. I am tired of it. If the specific percentages can't be verified (and believe me I will look), the bulk of the section should be left. It is absurd that we will close our eyes to the creeping monster encircling our communities. Joan53
Well i have reomved the section since that since i have addressed the issue the section remained unsourced in it claims, was still exremely POV, and smaked of WP:NOT. The only thing i can say is that if you want the section back in then provide sources that can verify the claims, make the section NPOV, and make it so that it is "Propaganda or advocacy of any kind" otherwise you can expect the section to be removed again. -- Boothy443 | trácht ar 05:28, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
I grew up in Pasadena. Parts are not so great, some areas have mansions and huge estates. It can't be described in the simplistic terms joan uses. I will say, however, that she does seem to be overstated the "decay" of Pasadena. Like any middle class suburb, bored teenagers are smoking pot and dropping acid. The crime is not really terrible. Green Haven, ONE part of Pasadena has certainly gone downhill in the last 15 years, but Lake Shore, Chelsea Beach and areas east are still Cupcake Land; well maintained yards and riding mowers on weekends. This ain't the apocalypse, joan. 71.200.83.199 02:00, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
There are no recorded stats about Pasadena itself. But as a former Police officer working in the Eastern District located on Mountain Rd. in Pasadena, MD. I can tell you for a fact this is not a pleasant place to live.
Violent crime, robbery and home invasions were common every day. I had many cases of car loads of roaming thugs driving around just looking to start a fight with one individual. For some reason, they got their "kicks" to have 10-13 people to gang up on an individual.
Drugs run rampant in the local youth. Everything from Marijuana to heroin is commonly found on their person when an arrest is made.
Sure, there are some positive aspects of living in Pasadena. Water sports, fine restaurants and being in close proximity to Annapolis and Baltimore.
I chose to leave Maryland all together recently and it was the best decision of my life.
