... that the elliptical plan of the parish church(pictured) of
Mġarr,
Malta was chosen because thousands of
eggs were sold to fund its construction? Source: "Imġarr parish church cupola is elliptical on plan, an unusual design (hinting the oval) chosen to remind people of the importance of contributing thousands of eggs towards the fund raising campaign to build their parish church" (
source)
ALT1:... that in the early 20th century, residents of

eggsin order to raise funds for the construction of their parish church(pictured)? (same source as above)
New enough, long enough, neutrally written, adequately referenced. Earwigs is not turning up any matches at all, so unable to check for close paraphrasing. However, I see by the references for the hook fact that you are not expressing the reason for the egg-shaped church; it was not chosen because of the eggs that were sold, but as a reminder to people to pay for the construction with eggs. Please reword this in the article and hook. Images are freely licensed. QPQ done.

Xwejnusgozo: Thank you, ALT1 is definitely better. But I'm not seeing the selling of eggs in the two English-language sources; both sources say they contributed eggs toward the fund-raising campaign. Who sold them? Also, please add the merill.com.mt source that you placed on this template to the article.

Yoninah: I'm not sure if the residents sold the eggs and gave the funds to the parish, or if they gave the eggs to the parish which then sold the eggs to raise funds (most likely it was the latter). To avoid the ambiguity, I changed the word "sell" in ALT1 to "contribute". The source is cited in the article as ref 5.
