I noticed that an article on Paramecium caudatum had been requested for more then a year, that's why I created this stub with some basics, please improve this article with more information, and an image or images. -- Zainub 15:40, 29 April 2007 (UTC) reply

I reviewed the article for consistency and accuracy. A synopsis of the changes:

  • Removed tangential fact concerning the epithet "slipper animalcule"
  • Edited Reproduction section to improve accuracy.
  • Removed nonsensical claim concerning feeding w/ the help of a "biosphereic presser valve"
  • Removed possibly true but unreferenced claim that p. caudatum die in synthetic fertilizer
  • Clarified the nature of the study by Daniel Fels, concerning P. caudatum using photons for communication. Deuterostome ( talk) 17:25, 14 February 2013 (UTC) reply

After reviewing the discussion of Daniel Fels's study on Talk:Paramecium, I removed the section on "Cellular Communication through Light". While interesting, this single-author study has not aroused any interest or support among ciliatologists, and does not really belong in a general article about this species. As one of the editors on Talk:Paramecium points out, it really belongs in the biophoton article. Deuterostome ( talk) 02:03, 4 November 2013 (UTC) reply
