I propose to merge Pandoh Dam, Beas Satluj Link Project, Dehar Power Plant, and Pandoh Lake into single article. It would create a more comprehensive article and avoid the current overlapping which exists among these articles. Beagel ( talk) 06:28, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
It is a good idea to merge, but they need to be all merged under Beas Satluj Link Project and not Pandoh dam. Beas Satluj link (BSL) was the name of the project and includes seven major components and Pandoh dam is just one of the components. The seven components are labeled in the figure that I added in Beas Satluj Link Project Article
I disagree. I have first hand knowledge on this project as was there during the time of Construction. The project was built by Bhakra Beas Management Board, Government of India. Please refer to official web site http://bbmb.gov.in/english/history_bsl_development.asp#page1. All the official documents for this project are under Beas Satluj Link and not Pandoh dam. Moreover, Pandoh dam is a small diversion dam The following excerpt from http://hoshiarpur.nic.in/bbmb.htm is The work on the Beas Project was started to harness Beas water, comprising two units namely Beas Unit-1 which is the Beas Satluj Link Project and Beas Unit-II i.e. Beas Dam Project. The Beas Satluj Link Project was completed in 1977 which diverts 3.82 million acre feet (4716 million m) of Beas Water to River Satluj through 37.26 Km long water conductor system consisting of two tunnels of 13.11 Km and 12.35 Km length and one open channel of 11.80 Km in between balancing reservoir. The seven components of the Beas Satluj Link Project for diversion of 9000 cuses of water and power generation as shown on the figures are[1]
Pandoh dam - 76.25 m (250 ft) earthen dam Pandoh Baggi Tunnel - 7.62 m dia, 13.11 km long Sundernagar Hydel Channel - 11.8 km long open channel Sundarnagar Dehar Tunnel - 8.53 m dia, 12.53 km long Surge Shaft - 22.86 m dia x 125 m high Penstocks - Three 4.877 m split to six 3.353 m Dehar Power House - 6 x 165 MW
There is no Power Station at Pandoh dam. The power station listed is at Dehar. Please DELETE — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xkd2626 ( talk • contribs) 22:10, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
I checked the Government of India website and it is now officially listed as "Dehar Hydroelectric Project". Please see http://india-wris.nrsc.gov.in/wrpinfo/index.php?title=Hydro_Electric_Projects_in_Indus_Basin http://india-wris.nrsc.gov.in/wrpinfo/index.php?title=Dehar_Hydroelectric_Project_JH00196. We should go ahead and merge but use the official terminology. Also, official names of all other projects are listed. There is also a issue on the spelling used in wikipedia for the river: Satluj vs Sutlej. The Government India website spells as Satluj
This would be my suggestion on the merged article
TITLE - Dehar Hydroelectric Project
HISTORY This project first proposed as Beas project Unit I and presented in a 1957 report of Punjab Irrigation. After some revisions, the project was approved for construction in 1963. Due to reorganization of states in 1966, the construction of the project was vested to the Government of India on behalf of the vested states. The project was built as Beas Satluj Link Project and commissioned in 1977. The project is now called Dehar Hydroelectric project.

That is perfect. Please proceed with Merge under "Dehar HydroElectric Project" and I will help clean up. xkd2626
The result of the move request was: no consensus to rename. Thanks for the responses, I should have read the above section first. Doesn't seem anyone is super keen for a rename so it will stay here for the time being. No prejudice against a new RM if anyone feels strongly about renaming at some point in the future.
