Clean-up June 2008

There is no need to write every word in capital letters. Also there is no need to mention PROFINET as much as a buzz-word. Greetings from Germany -- Biezl ( talk) 19:13, 30 June 2008 (UTC) reply

Suggestions:

  • I agree with the above, a lot of annoying capitialization
  • "PROFINET uses TCP/IP and IT standards..."
    • can we link to TCP/IP? (well I see it is done below)
    • "IT standards" is vague... which ones? or explain later?
  • "The PROFINET concept features a modular structure so that users can select the cascading functions themselves. They differ essentially because of ..."
    • I don't know what "cascading functions" are
    • Not sure what "they" refers to
    • long-winded: "concept" and "essentially"
    • Suggest: "Profinet features a modular structure so that users can select functions themselves. The functions differ because of..."

  • "In conjunction with PROFINET, the two perspectives PROFINET CBA and PROFINET IO exist. PROFINET CBA is suitable for the component-based communication via TCP/IP and PROFINET IO used for the real-time communication with real-time requirements in modular systems engineering."
    • "In conjunction" doesn't make sense or is "wordy" or "long-winded"
    • "the two perspectives" also wordy
    • "component-based" no idea what it means really
    • Suggest: "Profinet has two versions: Profinet CBA and Profinet IO. Profinet CBA is suitable for component-based communication /still needs explanation/ and Profinet IO is used for real-time (RT) and isochronous real time (IRT) control applications.
  • "decentral periphery" -- not sure what this means -- de-centralized devices? remote IO? sounds like English As Second Language issue.

  • "The designations RT and IRT merely describe the real-time properties for the communication within PROFINET IO."
    • seems redundant

  • "One component covers all mechanical, electrical and IT variables. The component can be generated using the standard programming tools."
    • unclear
    • what are "the standard programming tools"?

  • The isochronous data exchange with PROFINET is defined in the isochronous real-time (IRT) concept.

  • The proximity recognition and device replacement: All PROFINET field devices determine their neighbours.
    • very unclear
  • Due to the continuous further development of PROFINET, users are provided with a long-term perspective for the implementation of their automation tasks.
    • I could say this about any network, wordy again
