This was, indeed, used in Battlestar Galactica, The X-Files and numerous other TV shows and movies. I removed a reference to some highly obscure rock group that shot a video there in 2008. It was ridiculous to mention this in the article while saying nothing of the infinitely more famous film projects that had used this location.
