Should Barry Cowan be listed in famous people as he certainly is not famous. - Galloglass 2.04.06
Can anyone find any evidence that Andrew Summers DID play on the slayer album? Its not mentioned on the slayer page. - Andy GI 16.01.06
In 1286 when the monks at nearby Burscough Priory were granted a Royal Charter by Edward I of England to hold a weekly outdoor market. Today the market is held twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays.
The first sentence is incomplete. I'm surprised this has not been spotted yet; the page seems to have been up for two months.
No, I am not volunteering. I live in Chicago and am not familiar with Ormskirk's history from 1286; I only looked up the entry out of curiosity because a friend lives there.
Happy now, Chicago? - cwhiteley 08.08.2006
Part of Ormskirk may lie on a ridge but parts certainly are not and are lower than parts of Aughton. The fact that the Parish Church is on a ridge does not mean you can generalise - County Road, for example, is much lower. I suggest just leave it out or refer to an authoritative source that /all/ of Ormskirk is on a distinct ridge. BlueValour 01:54, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
I'm 99% sure that Ormskirk is a post town. Certainly the Royal Mail address lookup returns ORMSKIRK as the line before the postcode - L39 is just the postcode district and doesn't make Liverpool its post town. Similarly Bootle is also a post town. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by MikeNolan ( talk • contribs) 15:52, 11 April 2007 (UTC).
the article states that it was formed from the merger of Cross Hall and Ormskirk Grammar. Before (ie in the 1970's and before ) Cross hall was known as Wigan Road Secondary Modern School. Apparently the main building of Wigan Road school was the workhouse before it was a school —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gornystege ( talk • contribs) 12:37, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
Started his football at Ormskirk West End FC (see West End website) before being signed for Liverpool academy. He returned to the club for prize giving recently. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gornystege ( talk • contribs) 12:45, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
In my view this reference is not adequate. The fact that some school children chanted 'Ormy' on one occasion does not justify the statement that "In modern day local parlance, the name is frequently shortened to 'Ormy'." TerriersFan ( talk) 16:04, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
