If I'm not mistaken, the Ode to Newfoundland would have had to been written prior to 1904. It is estimated that the song was written sometime between 1901 and 1904 as it is said to have been performed for the first time in on January 21st, 1902 during the intermission of a play at a St. John's theatre.
