Is this really a noteworthy entry? I haven't heard of this so called "North Auckland Peninsula" ever before, it's really just the upper part of the North Island.

It's more often referred to these days as the Northland Peninsula, but yes, the term is widely used. A quick google of it under either name shows plenty of non-Wikipedia hits
