"Medium" is not, in my opinion, a good translation for Közep, which can also mean "center" or, in this case, "central. I would translate Északi-középhegység as "North-central" mountains.

Here, "középhegység" means not "central mountains", but
Mittelgebirge. (I don't know it there is a proper English word for it, as Mittelgebirge is German.) --
