Although generally a good, well-referenced article, there are a couple of slips where it starts to sound like a political leaflet:
"He is a diligent constituency MP, engaging with matters of local concern"
How do you objectively evidence that someone is a "diligent" MP? Perhaps he is known as a diligent MP (citing a source that says he is) but otherwise, can I suggest we drop this phrase? AndrewRT( Talk) 22:18, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
I've cited this source and changed the text to be more specific. A few other snippets:
He campaigns on a platform of positive politics[citation needed]
Could you provide a citation for this?
He regularly canvasses the area
Dont all politicians? Does he do this more than others? Based on what evidence?
Thanks for your help with this. AndrewRT( Talk) 22:45, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
No, not all politicians canvass. The ones in safe seats, tend not to, for example. Colonel Warden ( talk) 00:14, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
What class do you think this article is? It's clearly no longer stub class, but I was wondering whether it Start, B or even Good Article? AndrewRT( Talk) 22:48, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
I can't see how quotes such as: 'Labour stands for sustained, planned development of affordable housing with good public transport available, not for rewarding speculative greed' add value to this article.
Quotes need to be distinctive and say something novel, these don't.
Rsloch ( talk) 10:09, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Something on the lines of: 'Palmer has done a lot of work trying to protect the Green Belt in his constituency even raising it with the PM' is better than a political soundbite like Labour stands for...'

I have revised the page into, what I see as, a better format. It can always be undone but I ask that people consider whether a list of quotes is better than them being used to reference the text.
Rsloch ( talk) 13:52, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
My revisions followed the format of the vast majority of MP articles on Wikipedia. I picked a few MPs articles at random, no quotes sections, I looked at all the PMs back to Wilson, no quotes section, so why have one for a backbencher? It's not as if the quotes are actually any good.
So to avoid an undoing war please explain why this article should be of a different format to the vast majority (if not all) othe MP ones. Otherwise I'll revert things back to my version.

Firstly, the previous edit was just a reorganisation separating politics from much less notable private life and hobbies. I want to add some numerical material relating to the constituency as phrases like This steady hard work need either to be in quotes or to disappear.
The cook book was removed by dashbot. Two other images of mine with a similar fair use license have also gone in the last month.
