Derived with permission from New Martyrs at OrthodoxWiki. OrthodoxWiki copyright policy changed on 11/22/05 to be compatible with Wikipedia. The version of the page this article is derived from was either (1) created after that date, (2) created before that date but all users editing the page there (at least up to this version) before 11/22/05 have agreed to retroactively relicense their contributions. The article has a bit of sarcasm and bias putting that in quotes. If it offends atheists to not have that in quotes, then we could remove the phrase entirely. I think we could all agree that the anti-religious attitude in the Soviet Union was very militant. It's like saying Nazi Germany had much "militant antisemitism." Doesn't that seem a little bias with that in quotes? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.234.178.159 ( talk) 00:35, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

At least one Catholic site uses the phrase "new martyrs" - see The New Martyrs of Russia Any problem with this being alluded to? something along the lines of "(the phrase is also sometimes used by the Greek Catholic Churches)"-- Richardson mcphillips ( talk) 04:19, 12 January 2019 (UTC)
