It might be better to format all of the citations, publications and external links using
WP:CT since it will help make things consistent and eliminate the
WP:BAREURLs currently appearing in many of the references. The same can be accomplished without using templates, but it's just a bit more cumbersome. Moreover, given that the subject is American and the US date format seems to be being used throughout the article, it might also be a good idea to use the same format for citations per
MOS:DATEUNIFY. There's some other syntax cleanup need for citations because many of them are using
full-width characters for various punctuation marks. --
