Synonym in WoRMS

Isn't there a line somewhere about how Wikipedia articles are about taxa, not names (unless the name itself is a subject of long debate)? Maybe @ Peter coxhead: would know? — Hyperik talk 13:04, 13 August 2020 (UTC) reply

@ Hyperik: it's certainly a long established principle for plants – WP:PLANTS/NOTABOUTNAME. Spiders are the only other group I regularly work in, and the principle is certainly applied there, though I don't think it's written down. For gastropods, I would ask "is it a name for an obsolete taxon that is of comparable historical importance to those in Category:Obsolete gastropod taxa?" To which the answer is clearly "no".
