Quite right. It was her boss who had served 37 years in his position as DA, not Grace who had served in the position. The Larry King interview that is referenced is quite clear, while you are right that the sentence in the Wikipedia article is a little ambiguous. I tried to clarify it, but I am still not happy with how it reads.

She just mentioned that the first time she encountered castoff of this type was during a Ted Bundy murder. She would've been 18! Does anyone know what in the world she was referring to?! On controversial legal/social issues I have a habit of maintaining a time line: year month day who did what where; after watching whole episodes of shows like Nancy Grace, I could end up with no hard factoid to add to a time line, just baseless surmise, speculation, innuendo and self-righteous rhetoric devoid of new fact on whatever case was at hand. That taught me a lot about the prosecutorial mindset and the hazards of the news media trying a case in the court of public opinion.

Other studies have shown me:

• In the Bernard Goetz case, the prosecutor withheld exculpatory evidence that Cabey was hit once and let the defense attorneys and the news media believe for two years that Cabey had been shot twice.
• In the Ruby Ridge case, the prosecutor alleged Oct 1992 that Randy Weaver shot at the Geraldo Rivera helicopter 18 Apr 1992 in spite of a Apr 1992 field report by US Marshal W. Warren Mays that no shots were fired and 3 FBI FD-302 interviews Sep 1992 by Richard Weiss who was on the helicopter stating Weaver was unarmed.
• In the Duke Lacrosse team rape allegation, the prosecutor ended up disbarred for prosecutorial misconduct.

There was a citation at the end of the paragraph pointing to a pdf that covered the entire paragraph but I added a ref for each place where the person had asked for a citation. Here are the citations needed for the discussion of the Carr case in the "Prosecutorial Misconduct" section (paragraph beginning "In 1997" and bullet points following the paragraph). I'm not sure when they actually happened here are a couple of incidences that happened on her show which may be worth mentioning. Firstly, when Trenton Ducket was missing about a year or so ago someone named Bob from California called her show and much of the call was censored except the beginning where the caller says he differs with Grace's last call and then when he says "I thing you're a big bitch," and she proceeds to say that he is free to his opinion and then asks her guest a question about laying blame. I'm not sure if the caller was calling Grace a big bitch or the previous caller. You can check it out at youtube. The second incident was when someone in the control room named Elizabeth played a video in the background of Paris Hilton while Grace was talking with a guest about Paris' parole violations. Nancy tells Elizabeth to stop it and then starts going off on Elizabeth saying people like her (elizabeth) are part of the problem because they are blinded by celebrity. The video is available on youtube. I don't know if the part where the animal sex stuff comes in is legitimate or not, though.

I've removed a couple of things from this article. Firstly, the bit about the psychics... The conclusion drawn (she believes in psychics) is not supported by the narrative or reference given, and anyway isn't really relevant to what ought to be an informative and cohesive narrative biography. For similar reasons, I've removed the bit about her coverage of the raid on the FLDS compound. She's covered a lot of incidents, and people have objected to her position on many, many things. We don't and couldn't include them all, and since this one is not part of the more general narrative of the article it should stay removed. Avruch ^T 13:28, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Suggestion: Delete the subordinate clause at the beginning of the sentence "Because of her forward, opinionative and no-nonsense broadcasting style, Grace has conducted a number of broadcasts and interviews which have acquired controversy" reducing it to "Grace has conducted a number of broadcasts and interviews which have acquired controversy." The introductory clause "Because of her forward, opinionative and no-nonsense broadcasting style..." is a controversial claim about the root causes of the controversies which receives no direct support from the three examples given and serves no obvious purpose other than to prejudge the issue in Grace's favor. It would be better, I think, to inform readers of the facts and let them judge for themselves whether the examples given demonstrate nothing more than Grace having a forward, no-nonsense style of presenting opinions which she clearly labels as such. The sentence "Grace has conducted a number of broadcasts and interviews which have acquired controversy" achieves those goals--it's uncontroversial and neutral between admirers and critics of Grace's style.----JD

Small suggestion: Replace the word "acquired" with the word "generated" in the main clause. "Grace has conducted a number of broadcasts and interviews which have generated controversy" reads better, at least to my ear, than "Grace has conducted a number of broadcasts and interviews which have acquired controversy." To say a person's broadcasts and interviews have generated controversy doesn't prejudge wether the person has behaved inappropriately. Books, lectures, policies, etc can all generate controversy, but the mere fact they do isn't grounds for criticizing them. On the contrary, sometimes it's a compliment to say they do, especially when it comes to intentionally opinionative material. I need to find some verifiable sources, but what about Nancy Grace saying all "pitbulls" are "born vicious" and things like that? Wouldn't that demonstrate her lack of background checking and carelessness? Grace is accused of stirring hysterical feelings by her sensational news reporting style in our society about the "high" risks of being murdered, stalked or victimized by some sort of sex crime. She preached about women are victims by the male chauvinistic nature of society (feminist?), children (esp. the real yet overexaggerated threat of pedophiles are lurking among us) and she shuns online relationships, esp. it's not safe to meet off-line or real life. Other than John Walsh and Anita Hill, Grace did a good and bad job in reminding society on the high risks of sex crimes and vulnerability of women are maltreated by men all the time. I believe (not gonna be like Glenn Beck about Obama being a "racist") Grace is creating a hostile environment for adult men in general, therefore I feel she's a semi-sexist towards males. + 71.102.7.77 ( talk) 08:18, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Article says, "The Law & Order programs often base their fictional stories on real-life events and have featured stories based on Grace on several occasions," and had a citation needed tag. I added a citation which states that L&O does in fact fictionalize real cases. The second part of that sentence about Grace is cited in the very next paragraph, so the tag is no longer needed. As they stand, without valid reliable sources (and some of them have been tagged citation needed for around 2-3 years..)they need to be deleted for BLP reasons.. so please source any you want to stay...I removed some of the ones marked citation needed for years, and added cn tags for others, feel free to source and re-add AFTER you have a source if you feel it is necessary. In March 2014 Nancy Grace again created controversy when she presented a report on the death of Professional Wrestler Jim "Ultimate Warrior" Hellwig.

Maintaining balance on Nancy Grace is tough given that she is a polarizing figure. It would certainly be appropriate to include information about the findings of misconduct, but I have to agree with User:DHeyward's removal of the prior content. The previous section was out of proportion to section about Grace's prosecutorial career, so it gave the misconduct undue weight in the overall article. The section "Disappearance of Jennifer Wilkerson" under the Controversy heading appears to include non-notable individuals and simply links to a transcript of the interview. There's no explanation or description of what the controversy is, and a google search turns up nothing about that interview's controversy or the Captain Kevin W. Overstreet she interviewed. The section should be deleted.

It does not take a genius to see this character was a satirical clone of Nancy Grace. The theme of this character was a blowhard talking head that routinely made the life of the justice system (from cops to judges) harder with the way she would sensationalize crimes for ratings. It should also probably be mentioned that in Faith Yancey’s last appearance, she ended up a convicted felon. It seems as though the current entry about Grace’s clear connection to Yancey was written by a PR firm hired by Grace. In fact, the entire article on her seems quite self serving. This is a women who is quite despised possibly more often then she is loved and the entire entry does not reflect this fact. I’ve read from more than one source that even Grace’s “origin” story of why she entered the world of criminal justice is nothing more than a highly disingenuous exaggeration. I am not familiar with how to properly edit wiki articles, nor how to cite sources and documentation. Just a bit of minor editing on the Faith Yancey issue will be a small way of better reflecting truth and fact.

Perhaps there may be enough documentation to add a Major Criticism section... like say if anybody got the actual transcripts and police reports from the whole “fiancé” story she tells at the drop of a hat. The entry says: "Grace immediately and repeatedly proclaimed on Court TV and CNN's Larry King Live that Ricci was guilty, although there was little evidence to support this claim." There couldn't be "little evidence" that he was guilty since he was not guilty. There was no evidence, by definition. Nicmart ( talk) 00:28, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
