There is no need for an article on the name of Montreal. This is already covered in the Montreal article, and any information about past names of the city, if not already included, should also be included in the Montreal article. A whole article to explain Montreal comes from 'mont' and 'real' is absurdly excessive. [tk] XANDERLIPTAK 21:25, 24 November 2009 (UTC) reply

Support, but I think it would be a better fit in the History of Montreal article.-- MTLskyline ( talk) 05:46, 27 November 2009 (UTC) reply
Support, as per above, but perhaps not all of the content needs to be merged. -- Kjkolb ( talk) 04:15, 3 December 2009 (UTC) reply

Oppose. First, I think that the article does more than just "explain Montreal comes from 'mont' and 'real'", and although it needs work, the article has potential. As an example, Name of Toronto is quite interesting (although it too still needs some work).-- Skeezix1000 ( talk) 16:41, 21 January 2010 (UTC) reply
Merge to History of Montreal. Not sure if this is an 'oppose' or 'support', if you know what I mean. PK T(alk) 17:45, 21 January 2010 (UTC) reply
Merge pertinent information to History of Montreal, and modern Iroquois and Algonquin names to Montreal. DigitalC ( talk) 03:50, 24 January 2010 (UTC) reply
Oppose. As Skeezix1000 has stated, this article has potential for expansion. Interesting tidbits to add would be the meaning of the various First Nations names, and their etymology. It may also cover the historical names, such as Hochelaga, in the same way Name of Toronto covers information about the name York. Mind matrix 17:08, 13 March 2010 (UTC) reply
Oppose As stated by Skeezix1000 and supported by Mind Matrix, there is potential for an article on this subject precisely. There is in fact extensive literature on the topic. -- Mathieugp ( talk) 13:13, 28 November 2010 (UTC) reply
