This article has serious troubles. From looking back through its history, I can see that it started as a short offshoot of Music of the United States. It lacks any historical perspective, as well as any coherent treatment of the different parts of the state. It could use some expert attention, but the attention of any diligent editor would be welcome. Please don't just weigh in with your opinion or write about your favorite group. Make sure you can back it up with good sources.

P.S. A quick look through Music of the United States finds a single reference to Alabama or an Alabama musician: Hank Williams. -- Rob C. alias Alarob 05:24, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
The gospel section of this essay could also use expansion. In particular it could discuss the history of gospel music in Alabama and touch on both black and white southern gospel styles. Silversand ( talk) 21:57, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
I removed this section because it had no text and was simply a label. Please provide supporting text such as examples of artists producing Hip Hop in Alabama (such as in the Muscle Shoals studios) or provide examples of artists from Alabama producing Hip Hop. I didn't tag this article but thought seriously about adding the {{trivia}}. The reason is that its flow of prose is greatly impeded by a style which produces lists of information. I would recommend that the usual editors think seriously about moving some of the lists to separate articles. Sections would be shorter and more easy to follow and limiting the sections to short synopses. For instance all the info about minor but notable artists could be put into a separate article List of Alabama musicians and only the few major artists used here.
