Does Mumble allow for normal SIP telephony (using a SIP account provider, to dial out into the "telephone-number-world"), or is it restricted to its own protocol? —Preceding

There's an initial release on the page now, so I'm assuming that question is outdated. I am 99% certain the rest is true, but I'll ask for changes to be made to the official wiki so that they can be cited here: original author was Thorvald Natvig (slicer @ sf.net), and I'm almost certain it was open-source from the beginning.

I added this section as it's a pretty big part of Mumble's appeal, IMHO. This is my first non-typo edit of WP so I'd appreciate folks being gentle when they point me in the direction of making better edits. :) Full-disclosure: I contribute to the Mumble project.
