Misleading title

The title of the article not does reflect its current scope. I think a better title would be one which incorporated all types of inscriptions mentioned in the article. JohnmgKing ( talk) 10:27, 28 February 2022 (UTC) reply

  • @ JohnmgKing: True. I suggest "Multilingual inscription". The Commons cat "Archaeological multilingual inscriptions" includes texts with just two or three languages, as does Category:Multilingual texts here on Wikipedia. This article currently uses it more narrowly, excluding inscriptions with four or fewer languages, [a] but this narrower use seems to be more about convenience than a reflection of technical use (afaik). "Multilingual" would seem to be the best choice for a concise common name. The existing section on "multilinguals" could be retitled and reworded as to not clash with the suggested article title. -- Scyrme ( talk) 12:10, 28 February 2022 (UTC) reply

Notes

  1. ^ Except Yongning Temple Stele which is listed here as a "multilingual" although it's apparently a quadrilingual text.
