In contrast to the Nephites, Lamanites, Jaredites, and others, the word "Mulekite" does not appear in the text of the Book of Mormon. One should exercise caution in creating a named people when they are not mentioned as such. Sorenson discusses this in Ancient American Setting for the Book of Mormon.
The most recent issue of FARMS Insights (26, p. 3) states that according to the Book of Mormon Critical Text Project, the original name was Muloch, not Mulek. Ascentury 22:25, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
