This article is new enough and long enough. The image is in the public domain, the hook facts are cited inline and either hook can be used, the article is neutral and I detected no copyright issues. What an inspiring man! No QPQ needed here.

I uploaded a cropped image of the portrait but it is not showing up. Why are all the infobox parameters linked to Wikidata?

Is there a reason not to? I am not an advanced Wikipedia editor, but this page makes it seem like I can do this?

Well, it makes an extra step for someone who wants to edit the infobox, like I did. I've reviewed hundreds of articles at
WP:DYK and have never seen anyone do this before.
