I am fairly certain that, in an early "Archie" issue, Moose's real name is implied to be Francis "Moose" McGoingle. I hope to find it and cite it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.226.78.94 ( talk) 04:53, 13 June 2009 (UTC) reply

I remember a two-panel joke in a 1960s comic in which Archie asked Moose what his real name was. IIRC, Moose had to think about it by singing "Happy Birthday to You" to himself before replying, "D-uh, my name is Edgar." Richard K. Carson ( talk) 19:49, 7 September 2009 (UTC) reply
In the 1969 TV special "Archie and His New Pals," Mr. Weatherbee calls him Moose Manson. Coincidentally, it premiered a few weeks after the Manson murders. DollarX ( talk) 11:48, 11 March 2021 (UTC) reply
