The following is a closed discussion of a
requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a
move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: Snow move for 1st. A new request can be made later if someone wants to make the song primary but as noted the album will probably prevent that anyway.(

– The song is clearly the
primary topic, as illustrated by
This page views chart, which shows not only that the song trounces the town in popularity, but also that a majority of the town's page views coincide with the rise of the song, and thus it can be assumed that people who are trying to find the song are ending up on the town page instead. Furthermore,
This trends map from since the song's release clearly establishes that MONTERO is a
far more common name than the full song's name. Alternatively to moving Montero (Call Me by Your Name) to Montero, Montero could be turned into a redirect to the full title. Either way, however, the town is clearly not the primary topic, and it should be moved to a title which properly indicates this.

(Strongly) Support 1st, Oppose 2nd. Alternative proposal: Move DISAMBIGUATION PAGE (
Montero (disambiguation)) to "Montero" basename. Since the song just came out, it's hard to tell whether it's the 100% primary topic (see
WP:RECENTISM). However, the town DEFINITELY isn't the primary topic, so the disambiguation page should be moved to the basename of "Montero" for the time being.

Just created a dab page – there's more than we thought (like a district in Peru). The safest bet for the time being is to move the disambiguation page to the basename.

Support alternative proposal - recentism is a likely case in this circumstance that I had failed to consider, but beyond that I was unaware of the existence of a disambiguation page, as it was not linked as of the time of the discussion's creation.

The reason you didn't find the dab page before is that I made one after the requested move started! Also, given that Lil Nas X's upcoming album will ALSO be titled Montero, I'd fully expect there to be even LESS of a primary topic once it's released. The safest bet is 100% to have the dab page at the basename.

Support 1st, oppose 2nd the longer title appears to be part of the song's name and per Paintspot making the song primary seems like recentism but there are
other places as well so no clear primary topic. Crouch, Swale (

Support 1st, Oppose 2nd Both the song and the city is no primary topic regardless it is recentism or not and there are many articles named after "Montero" like a surname. It suggests to make
Montero a disambiguation page, which DAB itself has not yet have a page.

Per what Paintspot Infez and Crouch, Swale stated, among other editors: Support 1st, and move
Montero (disambiguation) to basename; Oppose 2nd, I don't understand the logic here when the song is not titled simply "Montero". The subtitle is very much part of its title. There are far too many things/places "Montero" refers too, so moving this page just because its pageviews are high right now seems a bit hasty to me. Either way, even if the page were to be moved to "Montero", a song shouldn't be given the title over a potential dab page with various entries or a larger work, Lil Nas X's recently announced album, Montero.

Comment – It seems there's consensus to move the city's page to "
Montero, Bolivia", and move the disambiguation page (
Montero (disambiguation)) to "
Montero". Since there's so much page-traffic of people looking for the song right now, should we Speedy move as uncontroversial instead of waiting an entire week? Just a thought.
