On page 70 of the most recent OMB bulletin, it is noted that the portion of Sullivan, Missouri which happens to lie in Crawford County, Missouri is to be included in the St. Louis MSA.
Upon my own review of the data available from the Census Bureau, it is unclear to me how to gather precise information on how many people residing in Sullivan also reside in Crawford County so that they may be added to the total in this page's table. The area that's legally Sullivan does not perfectly correspond with census tracts, so unless there were finer data available (census blocks, etc), it's not possible right now to include this information in the table. This is noted as an internal reference.
Inclusion of this population would increase the Missouri-side population of the MSA (and the respective CSA) by about 1000-1500, if I were to wager a guess - but alas, I cannot :( does anyone have any ideas on where to get this population data? Is there a separate source I could cite just for this number? Rhonetalsma ( talk) 15:22, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
Population data from the United States Census Bureau may be updated either:
The following table shows when population data is available:
Source: | Decennial Census | Population Estimates |
Date: | April 1 of years divisible by ten | July 1 of years not divisible by ten |
Region: | date population data available | |
nation | December | December 1 |
state | ||
statistical area | February-March of next year | April 1 of next year |
county | ||
places | June 1 of next year |
Please contact me if you have any questions. Yours aye, Buaidh 21:35, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
This table is a little misleading because the top left header is "Combined Statistical Areas" yet it includes MSAs (Metropolitan Statistical Areas) and µSAs (Micropolitan Statistical Areas), both of which are not comparable to CSAs, but instead are components that can make up CSAs.
Moreover, CSAs do not have statistical comparability to MSAs and µSAs. See [1] ("Because CSAs represent groupings of metropolitan and/or micropolitan statistical areas, they should not be ranked or compared with individual metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas.").
A good fix might be to change this list to look like [ [1]] and [ [2]]

This table is horribly out of date. I’ve changed the stats with a new source in the lead but the table doesn’t reflect the most recent definitions yet.l, mostly because the table is confusing and hard to update. The St Louis CSA has a new County, I tried to add:
But can’t quite get it right. Anybody know how these work? Grey Wanderer ( talk) 06:58, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
