I was looking at the other "in culture" articles you have been working on.
Insects in culture has a "Context" section and I like that, something to introduce the background to the article. In this article, you do of course mention some of the article's scope in the lead, but then the lead is merely meant to be a summary of the body of the text.
I was also wondering whether the article is correctly titled or whether something along the lines of "Microbes and their relationship with man" would be better. The "In literature, music and art" section was more what I was expecting to find from the article title.
"Microorganisms are used for many commercial and industrial production of chemicals, enzymes and other bioactive molecules, often through protein engineering." - This sentence needs attention.
You mention domestic animals and crops in the lead but not in the main text. Plant viruses, bacterial and fungal diseases impact production and sometimes livelihoods, such as Phytophthora infestans which is currently decimating my tomato crop.
